Eriko Hirose leads Japan to pre quarter-finals of Djarum Indonesia Open 2012 – Badminton News
Women’s Singles expert Eriko Hirose of Japan escorted her country to pre quarter-finals of Djarum Indonesia Open after beating Chan Tsz Ka in first round match on June 13, 2012.
This 57-minute fight was real test of their mental and physical strength as it prolonged to three exhausting sets before ending with 21-14, 10-21 and 17-21.
Though, World Number 24 shuttler Eriko exhibited unbeatable craft in court and reserved right to proceed into second round but she will have to perform beyond her limits against Chinese badminton queen Wang Yihan.
Earlier, the opening match of the tournament got started with Chan Tsz Ka gaining an immediate advantage of first set win.
The Hong Kong lady took some time to establish her grip over game but then she never lost the authority after getting into commanding position.
In first half of the set, she stayed down until 5-7 but then dominated six gruelling rallies in a row and placed a distinctive figure of 11-7 before interval.
After one-minute break, Chan Tsz kept on dictating her rival and raised the total to 15-10. This deficit proved final blow for her opponent and she wrapped first segment of the show with 21-14.
However, Eriko Hirose did not lose heart after this loss and showed transformed character in following game.
The Japanese shuttler gathered six consecutive points in the beginning and relished this advantage until last shot of the set.
She finished first half of the game with a respectable margin of 11-4 and entered in second half with great confidence.
Later part of the game also saw her employing all the experience and brilliance which took her to a dominating position of 14-7.
She continued with same momentum and left her challenger far behind with scoreboard flashing final figure of 21-10.
There was lot of drama in third and final set as at one stage Hong Kong shuttler was in strong position to win this race but then Eriko Hirose tipped the scale in her favour.
World Number 31 Chan Tsz ruled in first half with 11-5 total but she lost rhythm in final moments and allowed Japanese campaigner to steal the show with 21-17.
