Erin Campbell pockets Women’s 100m butterfly gold: Day one – 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational
Erin Campbell of Tucson Ford Deal pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 100m butterfly on day one of the 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational in Nebraska on Friday, June 8.
The 24-year-old Campbell stifled hopes of her supporters and cruised her way towards the finishing end for gold medal. With her astounding efforts, she outsmarted her competitors and paved her way to the top of podium for gold medal.
Her epic pace placed her nearly one stroke ahead of her closest rival and she tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 00.93 seconds.
The gold medallist remained 0.32 seconds faster from Rebecka Palm of Wisconsin Aquatics, who stepped on the victory stand for silver medal with the timing of 1 minute and 01.25 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Shannon Guy of Club Huskers-MW, who stayed 0.23 seconds apart and reached the victory stand for bronze medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 01.48 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Whitney Burnett of Una FORD-AZ, who stayed 0.23 seconds behind and tapped the finishing end with an effort of 1 minute and 01.71 seconds.
Burnett was chased by Emily Conway of University of Loughborough, who was 0.11 seconds behind and posted a time of 1 minute and 01.82 seconds for fifth position.
Similarly, Conway was trailed by Ashley Evans of University of Arizona, who stayed 0.22 seconds apart and hit the finishing end for sixth position with the timing of 1 minute and 02.04 seconds.
Seventh position of the 100m event was secured by Kristina Parsons of NYC-Lions-MR, who remained 0.15 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 02.19 seconds.
Parsons was chased by Nicole Larson of Edina Swim Club, who stayed 0.38 seconds apart and reached the finishing wall with an effort of 1 minute and 02.57 seconds.
The session ended after the completion of all planned events in Men and Women’s corner while the position holders received medals and accolades for their gruelling efforts at the prize ceremony of the tournament.
