Erin R Flanigan captures Women’s 500 yard freestyle gold – 2012 Rice Invitational, Houston
Erin R Flanigan of Rice-GU captured gold medal of the Women’s 500 yard freestyle at the 2012 Rice Invitational in Houston USA on Saturday, October 27.
Flanigan served notice of her talent in the 500 yard discipline as she earned her way to the top of medal rostrum for gold medal.
With her astonishing efforts in the distant event, she smothered hopes of her opponents and transpired on the finishing end for gold medal with a timing of 4 minutes and 58.13 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Sara K Brzozowski of TX Christian-NT, who was 1.13 seconds behind and stepped on the victory stand for silver medal with a timing of 4 minutes and 59.26 seconds.
Brzozowski was chased by her teammate, Mikayla A Winkler, who remained two and a half body length behind and surfaced on the wall as third best finisher with an effort of 5 minutes and 01.88 seconds.
Winkler was chased by Chelsea Fong of Rice-GU, who stayed considerably slower from her foregoing finisher and was unable to reach the podium. Fong stayed almost four seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with a timing of 5 minutes and 05.85 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth best spot of the event was obtained by Heather A Winn of Hu-GU, who remained 0.76 seconds apart and tapped the wall with a timing of 5 minutes and 06.61 seconds.
Winn was trailed by Kimmy D Ballo of Hu-GU, who was 1.47 seconds slower from her former finisher and proved her eligibility for sixth spot of the race by producing a time of 5 minutes and 08.08 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Mackenzie A Schuler of TX Christian-NT, who was only 0.15 seconds behind and tapped the wall with a timing of 5 minutes and 08.23 seconds.
Similarly, Schuler remained 0.34 seconds faster from Danielle L Spence of Rice-GU, who ended her swim in eighth place by touching the wall with an effort of 5 minutes and 08.57 seconds.
Furthermore, Flanigan was overjoyed with her gold raking effort and collected her medal after the event.
