Ernie Els seen struggling at the NedBank Challenge 2010
Ernie Els fired a stunning 68 on the 3rd of December at the end of his second round of the Nedbank Challenge 2010 with a 5 under.
According to the statistics, the second round of the challenge ended with Lee Westwood holding a high command over the opposition along with Ross Fisher aptly following him. The third place was seen tied
between Padraig Harrington, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Edoardo Molinari while the 6th place ended in Els hands.
As far as Els is concerned, the forty one year old managed to grab the sixth place at the leader board alone after carding a vigorous minus 5 in round 2. Amidst the top class birdie brawl, the 1989 turned
professional also had to cope up with a double bogey at hole number 4 which was accepted under duress considering the back to back pars Els carded from the previous three holes.
The Nedbank Challenge commenced from the 2nd of December and will continue till the 5th of this month at the famous Gray player country club in South Arica. According to latest reports,
the event is guest to Top 12 golfers from the world commemorating the 30th anniversary of the tournament.
From the list of top golfers, the World number 1, Lee Westwood still rules the NedBank leaderboard with a twelve under par that is a three shot lead over the Ryder Cup winner Ross Fisher and is seven shot
lead over the struggling Ernis Els.
Earlier this week, the thirty seven year old leader had been a bit troubled by his long-standing calf injury but considering his bogey free second round, the nuisance might just have moved out.
The third place resides between the European stars who carded a 66 after a 72, 69 and a 67. According to the score card, Dubliner Harrington hit seven birdies after first round and thus finished the second
round with a total of 72 hitting with only one birdie.
As for Ernie Els, he finished the front nine holes of the GC with three birdies at hole number seven, two and nine. The back nine came with much luck for the forty one year old and sent his confidence to
a new level as he carded three more birdies at hole number 10, 13 and the 15th.
Three time winner of this title, Ernis Els made his debut at the same course in the year 1992. From what we know of his records, he was beaten twice in the play by Colin Montgomerie in 1996 and then by
Sergio Gracia in 2001.
