ErrMSG-> IM is not supported over WI-FI connections?

Question

New AT&T Tilt Cell Phone error MSg when trying to start IM, same Error MSG for MSN and AOL too.... Have active wireless @ home, and Cell connects using it, have tried in the MidOfNoware and still get same results. OS = MS Windows 6.5 Pro, IE works for browsing the net, all syncs to/from PC seem to be fine, have checked settings and even tried turning off forms of internet access except phone, still get Error MSG

It's because IM uses texting for sending/receiving messages. if you don't have cell reception, you can't send or receive.
