Ersan Ilyasova on the rampage as Milwaukee Bucks beat New Jersey Nets 92-85 – NBA Recap
Ersan Ilyasova was unstoppable on Sunday night, as he recorded his career high 29 points and 25 boards, paving the way for a 92-85 Milwaukee Bucks victory over the New Jersey Nets in a closely contested game.
Bucks coach Scott Skiles couldn’t hide his delight at Ersan Ilyasova’s performance after the game.
“He had a great game all the way around. He was very active doing what he does, tipping balls, keeping them alive, both boards, and he caused a lot of problems out there. He caused a lot of problems out there and he's a big reason
we won the game."
Bucks, who snapped a 4 game losing streak with the win, shot 38.4% from the floor and 79.2% from the charity stripe.
Including Ilyasova, 5 players recorded double scoring figures for the Bucks. Guard Brandon Jennings netted 17 and had 7 rebounds while Luc Mbah a Moute scored 12 and had 8 boards coming off the bench. Carlos Delfino recorded 11
points and Shaun Livingston contributed 10 points in the 13th victory of season for Milwaukee.
New Jersey had 4 players in double digits, with Deron Williams on top with 26 points and 6 assists. Guard Anthony Morrow scored 17 while Kris Humphries recorded 13 points and 8 boards. MarShon Brooks, the rookie forward also had
12 points in this 24th loss of the season for Nets.
Bucks had a 14-5 run right at the start that gave them a comfortable lead in the opening stanza. They didn’t face much difficulty as they netted 9 more points while Nets could only reduce the gap by adding 12 more points by the
end of 1st segment. Ilyasova remained prominent in the opening frame with 8 points.
A comparatively low shooting quarter followed. However paced by 2 freebies from Lopez and a 3-pointer which was followed by a dunk from Morrow; New Jersey ate away the lead and got ahead 27-26 with 08:47 in hand. To their dismay,
the Bucks came up with a 17-9 run that placed Milwaukee back into the comfort zone as they capped off the segment at, 43-36 lead.
Delfino opened the 3rd period with a 3-pointer that started a 15-4 run for Bucks helping them stretch their lead further to 58-40 inside the first four minutes.
New Jersey tried to reduce the gap as they netted 16 more points afterwards but couldn’t stop Milwaukee’s offense, who added 12 more to their existing lead. At the end of 3rd period Bucks were up by 70-56.
Midway through the final stanza, the Nets managed to scratch down the deficit to 79-69. New Jersey then made a final push with a 13-6 run that helped them to bring things close at 88-82. Milwaukee was still leading though and only
00:45.2 were left on the clock. The followed by delivering a flurry of free throws to conclude the game at 92-85.
