Reports in Dutch media confirm that Erwin Koeman has resigned from the managerial post at FC Utrecht following a series of bad results coupled with few disagreements with the board.
The 50-year-old tactician arrived at Stadion Galgenwaard earlier this summer. However, he was immensely frustrated following the departures of key players including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Silberbauer-c25371.
With plenty of first-team players leaving the Utreg in the summer transfer window, it was expected that the outfit from Utrecht would struggle to perform this season.
With only three wins from nine games, it was hardly a surprise to see the Utreg failing to impress in the Dutch top tier.
Reports claim that the Dutch mentor’s decision to resign from the hot managerial seat at Stadion Galgenwaard was not only due to his side’s poor run in the league, but his disagreements with the board that remained unresolved forced the tactician to step-down
from his post.
A statement on the club’s official website read:
“The collaboration between FC Utrecht and Erwin Koeman has ended. At the request of the coach his contract has been terminated with immediate effect. Koeman has taken this decision as he believes the working conditions do not meet his requirements”
“There have been various discussions between the club's management and Koeman but the coach did not see the desired progress in the short term. FC Utrecht do not feel they can meet Koeman's conditions and have agreed to his request to have his contract rescinded”.
Reports confirm that Jan Wouters, who was the assistant coach at Stadion Galgenwaard, would be replacing Koeman until the club management finds the new coach.
The Utreg will battle against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Heerenveen-c40463 in their upcoming league encounter in front of their home crowd on Saturday, October 22. Wouters will be in charge in this match while Robby Alfen will be the assistant coach.
Wouters will be looking to guide his side to a much-needed victory, which would also help his side to better their league standings.
