Escargot is what the Chinese eats, why the fuss?

The French eat a lot of crazy things but no one pay attention.

In lots of places they eat Escargot and the  ones who usually get the most attention from it are the French.  To each should be ones own, I mean we do not all like the same things if we did we would not have much variety.  People should eat what they want who cares how crazy it is.

I always thought that the French are the ones who are crazy about escargots? Every country and culture have their own peculiar foods that outsiders find it weird. As the saying goes, one man's meat is another man's poison. As you say, what's the fuss ? Sometimes I wonder whether it stems from some innate sense of superiority by those who think other people who eat 'weird' food are barbarians & uncivilised. For example you hardly hear anything about Westerners having to defend themselves for eating stuff like escargots, cattle tongue & tripe, haggis, black/blood sausage, squid ink pasta, Rocky Mountain 'oysters' & lamb fries (lamb/sheep testicles), fresh live oysters, fermented fish. But fingers are pointed at Asians & Africans for their 'barbaric' food.
