Reports in Spanish media are indicating that La Liga outfit, Espanyol, are taking keen interest in signing Ajax Amsterdam’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mounir-El-Hamdaoui-c26905 in the ongoing January transfer window.
The Spanish club are reportedly in advance talks with the Moroccan International's agent, Sigi Lens, over a deal worth 4 million Euros.
Lens has been in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 to broker a move for the Moroccan ace, who has yet to make a single appearance this term for the reigning Eredivisie champions.
The 27-year-old arrived in Amsterdammers in the summer of 2010 after making 80 appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 while plying his trade at the Alkmaar outfit, hitting the back of the net on 50 occasions,
and he continued to stage impressive performances upfront at Amsterdam Arena.
The former Tottenham Hotspur forward netted an impressive 13 goals in 26 appearances in his first season at Ajax. However, the Moroccan ace fell out of favour with then-head coach, Frank de Boer, at the start of the ongoing campaign.
Even though the 27-year-old was expected to join a European club in the summer transfer window, he stayed at Amsterdam Arena.
El Hamdaoui had been linked with a host of European clubs including Fiorentina and Sampdoria. However, none of the clubs have thus far come up with a concrete offer to lure the forward away from Amsterdam Arena.
With the 27-year-old’s agent now in Spain negotiating with Espanyol, the troubled star is likely to move to La Liga in the coming days.
The former AZ forward, who has an ongoing contract with the Amsterdammers that keeps him at Amsterdam Arena until the summer of 2014, is reportedly a natural replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 at the start of the 2011/12
season.
