Espen Kofstad heads for the Norwegian Challenge with strong finishes in hand
Norweign Espen Kofstad started off his 2012 European Challenge Tour campaign on a low note and did not even manage to record a single top-10 finish in the first 13 events that he played.
Last month, he teed off at the Double Tree by Hilton Acaya Open and ended 72 holes on top of the leaderboard to record his first top-10 finish in style.
The very next week saw him record another strong finish at the English Challenge where he took the third spot.
He was not finished yet, as he recorded another remarkable performance and tied for the fifth position at the Finnish Challenge held last week.
Overall, the past three weeks proved to be the turning phase of his form on the tour this year. He now aims to capitalize on his past performances, when he tees off at the Norwegian Challenge, slated to start from August 9, 2012.
Because of his recent performances, he surged to the fifth place in the Challenge Tour money list, which makes him a strong contender in the event to be held at his home soil.
“I’m just trying to enjoy every minute right now,” said Kofstad. “Now I know I can win, I have this new confidence and I’m loving it. I’ve turned a corner and I’m very relaxed. Golf is a game which has a lot of ups and downs, so I’m just trying to enjoy
the ups as much as I can”.
“To win in Norway on the Challenge Tour would be unbelievable. I know there will be a lot of people coming to watch, so to win in front of a lot of home support would be something very special. When I’m playing as well as this it’s going to be even better
playing a tournament in my home country”.
Kofstad spent the whole day with his family after he reached Norway on Monday. He plans to move to the course on Tuesday.
The tournament will be played at the Byneset Golf Club in Trondheim – the same venue where he earned a victory in the same tournament in 2010.
