Essay topics?

I have to write a research paper on a recent event or trend. It will be a ten page long paper. I'm stuck on topics, though. I can't choose one that really interests me. Any ideas?

what about size zero in the media, and how people portray themselves after looking at 'role models' of that size.. ?

What class are you taking?  What area are you from?  I have to write a research paper too, criminology is my major and I am doing it on the effects of casinos in the community.  IE; increased crime rate, poverty increase, drug activity etc.
