Essence Hit Man wins the Bold Venture Stakes at Woodbine after a fight with Eternal Rule
The Grade 3 Bold Venture Stakes at Woodbine was an exciting race, where Essence Hit Man and Eternal Rule duelled over 6 ½ furlongs on 18th July, 2012.
Paired with rider Jesse M. Campbell as a high-weight of 124 pounds, Essence Hit Man was in contention with Eternal Rule from the beginning and, managed to defeat him by a narrow margin of a head.

Not far behind was Chad Brown trained, Bergerac, who fell 1¼ behind the runner-up to secure the third place in the six and one-half furlong dash.
The winning jockey was happy about the result and immensely excited about the way the race went as he said:
"He reached for that wire so hard today," Campbell said after the race. "What a treat for a Wednesday night race. These horses threw it down today. That's a horse race, right there."
The son of Speightstown, out of mare El Prado Essence, completed the race in 1 minute and 15.82 second and, went home $106,704 richer.
Essence Hit Man was the early leader and swiftly bolted through the track, as he completed the opening quarter-mile in 22.08 seconds and half-mile in 44.49 seconds.

In the upper stretch, Eternal Rule made his move and attacked but, could not catch up to the winner.
Owned and bred by Audre and Gordon Cappuccitti, the five-year-old gelding is in incredibly good form, as he has now secured three victories out of four starts this season.

He was close to the fourth victory but, was defeated by Smokey Fire in the Highlander Stakes, which covered a distance of six furlongs at Woodbine on 24th June, 2012.
With this victory the Audre Cappuccitti trained runner now has career earnings of $1,112,965.
Eternal Rule, trained by Sid C. Attard for owner Donald A. Myers delivered a commendable race but, could continue his winning streak which lasted for five races.
This season, the son of Tribal Rule, foaled by mare Eternal Legend, triumphed in the Allowance Optional Claiming on 20th May, 2012, at Woodbine and the Karl Boyes Memorial Stakes which took place on 20th June,
2012, at Presque Isle Downs.
This was the four-year-old’s first graded race and he landed a solid finish.
