Essex coach: We are close to deals for Ravi Bopara and Owais Shah
Essex coach Paul Grayson says the county is only a matter of time away from concluding a new deal for current player Ravi Bopara and a first contract for free agent Owais Shah.
Bopara's current deal with the club expired at the end of the last county season and despite rumours linking him with a move away, he has said there is no other side he wants to play for. Shah has been
released by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Middlesex-c817 and Essex has moved quickly to secure the services of the former England batsman.
"The deal between the club and Owais is all progressing well. We remain confident he will sign. We are not very far away with Ravi, it is looking very promising and it will be resolved shortly," said Grayson.
Once both of these players conclude contract talks and join Essex, the county will have one of the best sides in division two of the county championship. There is no rush in getting the deals done and
delays are due to a variety of different things.
Important to Essex
Both of these players will be very important to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Foster-c1644
and the Shah and Bopara.
Essex did not have a good season in division one of the county championship and the club will feel embarrassed at the way the side was relegated with such ease. These players will aid a push back to the
top-flight of English cricket.
"We are just finalising certain aspects of Ravi's package because of the time away playing in the IPL [next spring]. Our batting has struggled for two or three seasons now and this is why we are after
players like Owais Shah," added Grayson.
Betting advice
Both Bopara and Shah are capable of scoring big centuries in any form of the game. Back either of them to get a hundred early next season for Essex.
