This was just the half job done for the visitors, as they had to bat well in order to take a solid first innings lead. The team did a decent job, collecting 202 runs, which gave them a lead of 58 runs.
None of the Leicestershire batsmen managed to score a half-century in the innings, as the highest score came from opening batsman Will Jefferson. He scored 39 runs at the top of the order for his team.

eight boundaries in his innings, but would have been disappointed to throw his wicket away after getting a good start.
The team’s first-drop http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Greg-Smith-c1508 was unable to make an impression and was dismissed after scoring just one run. He was followed by Boyce, who got out after contributing 30 runs to the total.
The visitors’ skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Taylor-c66127 was the next man to be dismissed in the innings. He took a lot of time to settle down, collecting 19 runs off 73 balls, but gave his wicket away after that.
Middle-order batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Joshua-Cobb-c1739 also looked good, but was unable to make most of the start he got to his innings. The seasoned player got out after adding 30 runs to the total with the help of four boundaries.
Wayne White tried to bat aggressively, as he scored 28 runs from just 34 deliveries with the help of five boundaries. However, he was also not able to carry onto the start and was the sixth man to be dismissed in the innings.

Claude Henderson collected 13 runs towards the end of the innings, guiding his team’s total above 200. He was the last wicket to fall in the Leicestershire’s innings.
Essex’s Tom Craddock led the fight back for his team, dismissing four batsmen in the innings.
