How do I find out estate info about my father when my stepmother refuses give me any info and has assumed execitorship even tho they was seperated for over 5 yrs he passed in TX but lived in FL prior and my step mom still lives in Fl and she has not filed in probate also.Any way to do this free and without lawyer or can I find a lawyer in fl when i live in MI probono?

    There are WAAAAY to many ways for you to #$%^ this up if you try to proceed on your own.

  2. Why would a lawyer take on an expensive derisive estate accoutn for free? You can call the probate clerk in the county where he died/and/or where his real estate was. If she did not file for probate, there was no will, and you'll need to talk to the clerk about an intestate estate; and if he's been dead for 5 years, it's a closed case, and the final distribution will be of record in the court. After that, plan on paying someone if you want to try and challenge an estate that's been closed that long
