Continuing on the topic, Granero stated that Madrid players were focused in their approach to the match, which was typical of any pre-season friendly fixture Los Blancos play in. He acknowledged that conceding the goal ruined the party for them, and they
would have been happy with a clean sheet.
"It is an honour to be captain of Real Madrid, even though it was only a pre-season match," the midfielder said while in conversation with reporters.
"It was a typical pre-season match but we were very focused in the way we played. We did not like that we conceded a goal but we played at a good level."
Granero had to spend two seasons on the books of cross-town rivals, Getafe, to earn his move back to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Given the occasion, the cantera product took out time to talk about the contributions to the first team being made by the reserve team, and hailed them for their importance to the overall machinery of the Capital club.
Granero shared that he is always there to help the upcoming players from the academy and hoped that they can contribute to the first team in the future.
"The guys from Castilla are helping a lot and are proving they can contribute well. I try to help them with everything that they ask of me."
