Real Madrid academy graduate, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Esteban-Granero-c12919, was in high spirits ahead of the match as he looks to add first team honours to his numerous winners’ medals at the youth level.
With odds stacked in their favour, Granero cautioned against underestimating their Basque rivals. The industrious attacking midfielder praised Bilbao for their resilient attitude.
Despite the eventual 4-1 score line in their favour, he reminisced that Los Blancos were caught unawares in their previous encounter by their potency in the centre of the pitch.
The Madrid native reckoned that it will be a tough league fixture, and claimed that Marcelo Bielsa’s tactical nuance will make things more difficult than it is anticipated.
"They are a tough team and they embarrassed us at times at the Bernabeu, especially in the first half," the midfielder was quoted as saying by Real Madrid’s official website. "As such, it will be a hard game.”
"They have had a very good season and have taken a big step forward. Their coach [Bielsa] has helped them grow and they are a team of young and ambitious players."
After stuttering at the start of April in La Liga, Real Madrid have found their feet at the Bernabeu and away, winning their last four outings in succession. Granero remarked that he hopes to return to Madrid with the three points on offer and the Spanish
Primera Division with it.
"Lately we've been successful there and we will try to bring the three points back to Madrid," the 24-year-old stated.
"I've won many league titles as an amateur and now I want to celebrate one as a player. We are close, although we have not achieved anything yet."
La Liga fixture between the two Spanish titans kicks off at 22 00 CET.
