Esteban Gutierrez says he is not fully ready for F1 – Formula 1 news
Sauber rookie Esteban Gutierrez has said that he is not fully ready for his Formula 1 debut in 2013 as it is extremely hard for him to make judgement about the sport.
Gutierrez secured third place finish in the 2012 GP2 Championship behind Luiz Razia and the champion, Davide Valsecchi. Although, he has been considered as one of the most talented young drivers, however, he failed to show consistency in his performance
in this season.
“It’s true that I have not been consistent in GP2, but I think this has been the most rewarding season on my career because it’s the kind of experience that gives you a better perspective for the future,” Gutierrez said.
Nevertheless, he said that he will try his best to perform with consistency in F1 and to attain competitive results for his team. Furthermore, he said that he is looking forward to prepare himself as a competent driver in the sport. In addition, he said
that he eagerly waiting to drive alongside Nico Hulkenberg in the next year.
“I will try to look for consistency in F1 and when I get it, I can start thinking about great results,” he said. “First, I have to go step by step, adapt, and for that the beginning of the season will be very important.”
However, he asserted that he doesn’t consider himself fully prepared for F1 where the competition is more intense than any other form of autosport.
“It makes no sense to say I am 100 per cent ready because it’s difficult to judge,” he added.
The Swiss team performed amazingly well in this season and was considered as one of the most competent midfield contenders. Additionally, it is the first team which has passed the mandatory FIA crash tests and is now looking forward to take the maximum out
of the winter testing in order to come up even stronger in the next season.
Sauber have surely got the potential to achieve better results in the coming year. Besides, it will be very exciting to see how they show up with their new driver line-up in the next season.
