Estimate lands successful in Longines Sagaro Stakes
Estimate landed successful in the Longines Sagaro Stakes (Group 3) at Ascot in England on Wednesday, May 1, 2013. She was expected to be strong and didn’t disappoint her fans at all in the all important competition.
The young filly was rated as the favourite to succeed and the bookmakers had shown immense confidence in her abilities. The punters also gambled a lot of money in her favour, as she was the strongest of all runners taking part in the competition.
Since the distance to cover was two miles, it was important for every contestant to stay relaxed at the start of the race. The ones who pressed hard at that stage were unable to make an impression overall, as they ran out of gas pretty quickly.
However, Estimate was clever enough to preserve energy and she decided to take the battle towards the final few yards. She did not push hard at all after the traps were opened and kept on going at a steady pace. Since the going was good, she was not under
any pressure and kept her opponents in sight.
Once she saw the opportunity, Estimate started building up speed and no one was able to stop her from getting into the lead. She managed to get ahead comfortably and the stayed on in the end, winning by almost two lengths.
Overall, this was the third victory for the Queen’s owned challenger, who has participated in a total of six events until now. Other than that, she has finished in third place on a couple of times too, which shows that there was only one occasion, where
she failed to make it to the top three.
Queen's racing manager John Warren said, “I asked Ryan whether she would get another half-mile and you wouldn't be surprised by his reply which was 'you won't know until you try.’ What particularly pleased Ryan was the way she quickened past horses and she
loved the ground.”
He added, “She seems to have improved since last year and her breeding suggests she should have the stamina for the two and a half miles of the Ascot Gold Cup. I would hazard a guess that would be her next run.”
