Estimated value of beanie baby?

Question

This beanie baby is 'Mel'- a quowala bear made in either the 50's or the 60's. it is in exelent condition and has still got its tag- also in exellent condition. How much do you think it is worth? how much do you think i should start the bidding for it on Ebay?

I'm not sure anymore but i have storage unit full of excellent condition beanie babies and beanie buddies. hopefully the market will come back but i plan to hang on to them a while and hope for the best.

i just looked Mel the koala bear up on google and a load of e-bay pages come up, they're on there for under a pound/dollar!

very little, maybe $5 starting bid, mel was most definitely made in the 90s and is worth squat. at one point and time beanie babies were worth quite a bit, and probably will be again in like 20 years, but after the fad bubble burst after 2000, beanies just don't sell like they used to. a quick check of ebay i just did confirmed my suspicions, there are several mel's going for starting bids of $ 0.50 , and not selling for much more, so my estimate above was way too generous.

you can start the bidding at 99 cents, because the beanie baby is ONLY WORTH what someone is willing to pay for it. So you can start it low, the lower the better, the more bids you'll get.

if you start too high, most wont bid. Again, anything is only worth what someones willing to pay for it.

Think about how much the collectors would want for it. Try doing some research to find out what they usually sell to collectors for. I would then start the bidding a little below the regular selling price, so if a bidding war happens, then you will get a lot of money.
