Estonian Golf & Country Club to host high-profile amateur events this year
Estonian Golf & Country Club has now been declared as the host of many of the coveted amateur events for the year and will be host of the first amateur event, the International European Mid-Amateur Championship from June 7-9.
The course, which is part of the European Tour assets, is ranked one of the top-100 golf courses in whole Europe and its scenic layout, right next to the sea, provides some of the breathtaking views for the guests and players.
The event is organised under the auspices of European Golf Association (EGA) and this is the first time International European Mid-Amateur Championship is being held at Estonian GCC.
The event started off in the year 1991 and has been held in continuation since then.
Hanno Kross, CEO of Estonian Golf & Country Club, said: “It is a great honour to host one of the European Golf Association’s flagship events and we look forward to welcoming so many top amateur golfers to our club. The Sea Course has proved an enjoyable test for the best golfers in the world and I’m sure that will remain so for the European Mid-Amateur Championship contenders”.
Estonian GCC was also the venue for the Omega Mission Hills World Cup European Qualifier in 2009 and 2011 and offers a unique layout featuring thick forests, strategically placed bunkers and ancient granite boulders hailing from the last ice age.
The course is located in the vicinity of Tallinn enlisted as the UNESCO World Heritage Site and the UN body considers it as “exceptionally complete and well preserved example of a medieval northern European trading city”.
The course was designed to negotiate the banks of Gulf of Finland and Jägala River Delta and the atmosphere in the month of blazing June is usually serene and mild. The gusts of wind coming all the way from the sea, give it a unique Links Course feel to it.
The event is open to all above 35-years of age and anyone who has a Handicap of five or better can apply for the same. The EGA is hoping to extend a warm welcome to the players and guests especially from Estonian Golf Union and Estonian Golf & Country Club.
