Eternal breakup of the Indo-Pak Express – Tennis News
“Indo-Pak Express” is broken forever. The team of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi has parted for quite some time but they aren’t planning to join hands once again to feature a blistering co-ordination in the world of tennis.
Bopanna teamed up with Mahesh Bhupathi at the start of the season with an idea to create some co-ordination before the start of the London Olympics. However, the reason looked more trivial than this and Qureshi was left hanging in the air.
The team of Bhupathi/Bopanna has yielded few good rewards compared to what Indo-Pak Express gained in the season prior to 2012. They have just won a single trophy at the Dubai Duty Free Championships and haven’t been able to create
a similar impact like a combo of Qureshi/Bopanna.
Qureshi on the other hand teamed up with the Dutch player, Jean-Julien Rojer, to play the season. They couldn’t sort out a good partnership play at the start of the season but began to reap fruitful returns of their hard work in
the latter stages.
The Pakistani tennis ace, Qureshi commented in an interview, “Rojer and I worked very, very hard and, in the first three months together, things didn’t go well at all and we hardly won any matches. But we worked very hard as a
team and as individuals and we got ourselves back in a position to qualify for the Masters [in London].”
He further added, “It would be very difficult for me to tell him [Rojer] if I wanted to switch as we have worked so hard together. He has worked so hard to improve his game to win all these matches. I think we are playing a team
sport and it’s all about team goals.”
Bhupathi has announced to retire after the 2013 season and has parted ways with Bopanna as well. He is looking to pile few more titles to his name as he teams up with Daniel Nestor in the upcoming season. On the other hand, Bopanna
is left with an Indo-American boy, Rajeev Ram, who is inexperienced compared to his previous partners. Qureshi will not leave Rojer for anyone else at the moment and there partnership is blossoming day by day. So, it is an official end to the most inspiring
Indo-Pak partnership seen at the professional tennis circuit.
