  1. I've heard that starting back in the seventies - 30 years.   I also heard we'd all be driving on hydrogen in 20 years - also been 30 years.

Well my car is finally running on 50/50 blend of E85 and gas (which can contain upto 10% ethanol)  Took me six months to decide how to approach it.   The car is a 1985 chevy - everything working just fine for the last 2 months.  We could have been on ethanol by 1985 (23 years of carbon neutral auto emissions), but no we got swindled by big oil and lazy government.

Roy McAlister has been running cars on hydrogen since about 1964.  Read his books and watch his DVDs.  I didn't believe how simple the conversion is but I converted a small lawn mower over to hydrogen and I'm a believer now.

Older cars are pre-1983 as that's when it was mandated that cars had to be able to handle 10% ethanol in Michigan at least.

  2. ethanol can be used in any car, but a few modifications are needed. for efi  cars you need to use ethanol proof fuel lines, large injectors, and have the computer reflashed to use ethanol. in a carbed car you need to eliminate all the plastic from the fuel system, install ethanol proof fuel lines, increase the size of the jetting(best to get an alcohol carb) to get the needed fuel mixture. this is if you want to use E85 or E100 fuel. with the efi car you can install a flex fuel sensor to tell the computer what level of alcohol is in the fuel, up to E85. as for what year they are talking about, usually they mean 95 and older vehicles.

by the way we have had E10 gasoline since the early 80's in this country in many areas.

  3. Want to know a secret?

They tried to push ethanol back in the late 70's but it floundered.

(Even used to hear Paul Harvey advertise it back then)

It's like putting a new dress on an old w***e.....Nothing new.
