  1. Bush started pushing ethanol from switchgrass until he realized that it could really work AND cause problems for his oil industry. That's why he's all about corn now. Corn won't ever be practical for large scale ethanol.

  2. A candidate opposed to ethanol will get my vote. Your gas mileage is about 20% worse with E10 gas than with fuel that contains no ethanol. It also takes twice as much energy to produce ethanol. Factor in the resulting increased food costs right here in the US, and the additional fertilizer runoff created into the rivers = bad bad choice and is hitting my wallet hard.

  3. I can't answer the first part, but for the second ethanol won't be affecting the way I vote.  At this point ethanol is almost the same cost as gasoline, and is also increasing costs of other products.  I would rather see a president that can handle the problem we're having with gas prices right now, and deal with future ideas at a later date.

  4. Obama holds a 96% lifetime voting record on green issues, while Clinton holds a 90% lifetime voting record.  McCain's record isn't very strong, although he has sponsored legislation that shows he cares about the environment.

The big issue is this:  How will the 'winner' successfully convince the public to make sacrifices to help the environment when a large majority of the public has their head in the sand with regard to the need for these changes.  Who will have the leadership skills to convince masses of people to drive smaller, more fuel efficient cars and otherwise reduce fuel consumption?  The Europeans have been living more efficiently for some time, but their gas prices have been around $5-6 per gallon I've heard.  Let's hope American gas prices don't have to get that high before the American people wise up and take action!

  5. People are starving because of ethonal, food riots are starting in africa. Ethonal always was and always will be a bad choice! The next president will have to stop it, which in the end is what big oil wants. Hydrogen can be made from manure, but the goverment ensures we don't know that, and ensures we will never see it.
