Ethernet Port Trouble

Question

HI, I have a Dell GX260 computer been rebooted a few times, I tried to connect an ethernet cable but it doesn't show as a working or recognizable although the LED lights do switch on at the back of the computer..I am trying to connect to a network and my internet. The ethernet wire definitely works and so does the router and modem.
