Question:

Ethernet cable extension?

I've got two ethernet cables. I want to to connect them, so they work like a single cable. In my big pile of tech, I found a little connection with two female ports, but I think it's broken.

Anyone know what it's called, so I can go look for a working one?

  1. Hiya !

It sounds like you need a new female to female adapter - nut before you buy a new one - test the old one - plug the whole lot together and see if it still carries data.

Either that - or use a continuity tester to check each cable strand - and the connections of your adapter.

  2. I'm pretty sure it's called a coupler.

  3. If it were me, I would just go get a cable the right length. They aren't that expensive.
