Question:

Ethernet to one computer and USB to one computer?

Hi. I was wondering (without having to get a router) can I connect an ethernet cord with one computer and the USB with another?

Well before that, I'm trying to connect even the USB alone to see if it would work and all it says is "local connection only" . Is there something else you need besides the USB cord?

  1. why the redundant system??

you can connect two computers with USB or ethernet cross over and not mess with bridging ports.

  2. i don't think you can use 2 internet connections with one modem. you need a router. and with a router you can buy a signal catcher for your 2nd computer so it can catch the signal like a laptop. you can also buy a really long Ethernet cable (blue) and put one end in the router and the other end in your 2nd computer's ethernet slot.(usually at back of PC)

  3. It is possible to hook two computers together with a null modem, an old printer cable or even a two way USB cable.  The system recognizes this as a network connection.
