Hey

I'm doing a project on Sweden and I'd like you Swedish people out there to tell me certain ethical laws you have in Sweden and ways you use to communicate with each other

(Don't answer if you haven't lived on Sweden, it's an important project)

Thanks!

  1. Hmm.. first of all I don't think that it is very different how we communicate in Sweden from all of the other countries I have visited (Africa, and most European countries).

I can say some "overall" things but it's not so easy to put the same judgement on a whole nation.

First of all, in Sweden we are very considerate to each other, almost to the border of it being annoying. If you are not very close with someone, you will not tell them an "awful truth" for example. That's why it can be hard sometimes to get an truthfull opinion about something.

Other ethical laws in Sweden are the "typical" oces; like you do not make racist comments for example.

One thing that I have found interesting since I have moved away from Sweden and have not seen this in other countries is how we give things to each other. If someone offers you something that you need (money, help or whatever) according to the "ethic laws" you have to say "no" at least one time, even if you know that you will accept it in the end. For example:

-I will borrow you the 300 euro that you need to pay that bill!

-No, I can not accept that..

-Yes, I have some extra money, and you really need it!

-No, I could not.. I will solve the situation myself.

-No, I will not take no for an answer!

-Alright, but I'll pay you back next month.

I do not see that thing where I live now (Greece), and it's quite funny, really ;).
