Ethnography anyone???

Can anyone please tell me or give me an example of how ethnography can be used to identify and solve a problem in the United States today???

For example....the ethnography In Search Of Respect, Selling Crack in El Barrio by Philippe Bourgois.   It studies social marginalization in inner-city America (East Harlem).  Definitely a current problem, wouldn't you say?

By the way, the book is very interesting.  I read it in my first cultural anthro class and was amazed to realize that ethnography goes beyond studying "others."  It definitely helped open my eyes and widen my horizon.

OMG! emos are the best example! of course, supposing you are an enthographer, you'll be with emos, be with them in time of sobbing and moaning; but not engaged in their cutting and suicidal attempts. In this way, people will understand these emo kids better, and help them find a way to stop cutting and suiciding!
