Eugene Godsoe claims Men's 100m back-stroke title: Day one – 2011 Pro Dual Meet 1
Eugene D Godsoe impressed his fans by claiming the title of Men's 100m back-stroke on initial day of the 2011 Pro Dual Meet 1, on Wednesday, November 16. The meet is a two day tournament and is scheduled at the University of Michigan Pool.
East's Godsoe shattered hopes of his opponents by gaining the title of two-lap back-stroke event. He faced strong competition from Christopher D Brady and Kevin D Doak of West.
The 23-year-old Godsoe remained dominant for the title of back-stroke swim from start of the race. He displayed his stunning efforts throughout the double lap event and ensured his top finish on the podium.
He was the fastest swimmer to take off from the starting blocks, where he completed his first lap in a time of 26.65 seconds.
With his powerful start and magnificent stroke, he maintained a prominent lead from his competitors in the first lap. He was trailed by 30-year-old Doak, who remained 0.81 seconds slower than him on the first turn and concluded his lap with a second fastest timing of 27.46 seconds.
The third fastest spot was obtained by 23-year-old Brady, who remained 0.43 seconds behind his former finisher, completing his first half in a time of 27.89 seconds.
Subsequently, Godsoe geared up his swim in the second lap and ended his swim in a fastest time of 27.99 seconds to post 54.64 seconds for gold medal. He was chased by Brady, who remained 0.11 seconds slower than the gold medallist and clocked a time of 56.75 seconds for silver medal.
The third spot of the race was secured by Doak, who was 1.27 seconds slower than his former finisher and produced a time of 58.02 seconds for bronze medal.
In the meantime, Godsoe's team-member Nick J Brunelli, who was only 0.01 seconds slower than the third position holder, submitted a time of 58.03 seconds for fourth position.
The session ended after the completion of all scheduled swimming events while the podium finisher collected their accolades for their remarkable efforts after the session. Furthermore, the championship will conclude on November 17, after the conclusion of all swimming events.
