Eugene Godsoe earns Men’s 200m back-stroke title in Michigan: 2011 Pro Dual Meet
Eugene Godsoe of East proved his mettle against his rivals during the second evening of the 2011 Pro Dual Meet in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Thursday, November 17. Godsoe sealed the session by claiming gold medal in the Men’s 200m back-stroke race against his
challengers.
East’s young and confident athlete, Eugene Godsoe was competing against team-mate, Peng Wu and West’s Charlie Houchin in the final heat. The race got off to a thrilling start, as the hot favourite, Eugene Godsoe went full throttle against his contenders
throughout the splash in the pool and demolished his rivals by banging the finishing blockade in a triumphant time of 2 minutes and 00.98 seconds to seal the Men’s 200m back-stroke title in Ann Arbor.
After the race, Peng Wu settled for silver medal in a winning time of 03.93 seconds. Wu claimed silver medal in 200m butterfly race at the 2007 World Championships edition, in Melbourne. In addition, Charlie Houchin of West pocketed bronze medal in the respective
race by claiming the finishing barrier in a blot of 2 minutes and 04.26 seconds. More importantly, Houchin won two gold medals in 400m and 4x200m freestyle events at the 2011 Pan American Games, in Guadalajara.
In the meantime, East’s young gun, Jean Basson outperformed his rival, West’s Kevin Doak for fourth place honours by thrashing the finishing fence in a time of 2 minutes and 07.88 seconds. Basson bagged one silver medal in 4x100m medley and one bronze title
in 4x200 freestyle events at the 2010 Commonwealth editions, in Delhi. Additionally, the fifth place honour went to Doak in a spot of 2 minutes and 14.00 seconds.
Finally, the performances of East’s Eugene Godsoe and Peng Wu along with West’s Charlie Houchin allured Michigan’s arena immensely and the triumphant athletes were bestowed with gold, silver and bronze medals including cash prizes after the session’s conclusion.
The 2011 Pro Dual Meet is paying off in the best possible fashion for all athletes of United States of America. More importantly, the meet is helping young guns to improve their techniques for their upcoming meets of swimming.
