Eugene Godsoe moves towards his Olympic dream – Swimming news
Stanford’s young athlete, Eugene Godsoe is determined to perform well at the 2012 Olympic Games, in London. Godsoe said that he is excited for the Olympic trials which are scheduled next year. He has ten months to prepare for the meet and get back on track.
He believes that he is good at both100m back-stroke and 100m butterfly races. In addition, he can swim well in the 100m freestyle. Overall, Eugene Godsoe wants to be a regular feature in USA’s Olympic crew.
Eugene Godsoe stated that he has developed complete focus on the game and he wants desperately to perform well in the major meets of swimming. Meanwhile, Godsoe claimed that he has gone through a struggle all the way through his life.
Eugene stated, “I just have a real love for the sport. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in my career – shoulder surgery in 2006 almost took me out of the sport completely -- but the ups have always been amazing. The downs make me want to come back and compete
even harder.”
He added that he has a broad vision which he still has to achieve in his life. Securing among the top-four positions in the 100m back-stroke and 100m butterfly meets at the 2011 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships, Godsoe is very keen to book
his place in US National swimming squad.
Godsoe has a degree in political sciences. Furthermore, he has keen interest in international relations and economics. Currently, he is doing his internship with Wells Fargo. So, he wants to be a competitive learner in both the educational sector and aquatic
swimming. In addition, he has a great passion of music, as he said, “Music is my other big passion in life. My dream is to be a world-famous rock star.”
The amount of resolve and determination which the American athlete has will surely help to work and prepare well in order to secure a spot in the team for the 2012 Olympics. With the trials not that far away, all is left to see whether the swimmer makes
his way to the mega event or not.
