Eugene Godsoe pockets Men’s 100m butterfly gold – 2013 Austin Grand Prix
Eugene Godsoe of STAN-PC/PASA pocketed gold medal of the Men’s 100m butterfly on day one of the 2013 ST TXLA Austin Grand prix at Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, on Friday, January 18.
The 24-year-old Godsoe remained marginally ahead of his closest competitor and tapped the wall for gold medal. He faced tough competition from the start but with his notable form in the race, he managed to escape him over the finishing wall for gold medal.
With his notable pace, he stayed only an inch ahead of his closest competitor and tapped the wall for gold medal with a timing of 53.54 seconds.
His notable pace remained 0.03 seconds ahead of Bobby Bollier of STAN-PC/PASA, who followed him on the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 53.57 seconds.
The silver medallist was traced by Dan Madwed of Club Wolverine-M, who suffered a loss of 0.20 seconds from his foregoing finisher and completed the podium by posting an effort of 53.77 seconds.
Madwed was chased by Ryan Lochte of Daytona beach-FL, who stayed almost half a second slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 54.14 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Ramir Ramirez Juarez of ITESM, who was more than a body length behind and hit the finishing end with the timing of 55.20 seconds.
Ramirez was traced by Tyler Clary of Club Wolverine-M, who stayed 0.88 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and clocked an effort of 56.08 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Andrew Liang of Palo Alto Stanford, who stayed 0.33 seconds slower from his former finisher and clocked an effort of 56.41 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Jake Tapp of LOSC, who tried hard to prove his mettle but failed to upset any of his opponents and finished eighth in the race by posting a time of 57.13 seconds.
In addition, Godsoe received a huge round of applause from the audience for his commendable form and raked medal after the session.
