Eugenio Fascetti urges Antonio Cassano to leave A.C Milan for Fiorentina: Serie A news
Former Fiorentina manager, Eugenio Fascetti, has urged A.C Milan striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Cassano-c6302, to join the Viola to increase his chances of playing in the Euro 2012.
Fascetti, who was Cassano’s mentor when he started his professional career, believes that lack of first-team opportunities might cost him a place in Italian national squad for the European competition.
The former Bari striker joined Milan from Sampdoria in the January transfer window of 2011 and made handful appearances to guide them to win the Scudetto. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 boss has advised Cassano that it will be very hard for him to break into the Rossoneri first team and he must leave the club to retain his Azzurri jersey.
Talking to the reporters Fascetti said, “I tell him to leave Milan and join Fiorentina. It’s the only way he can stay in the Nazionale. Cesare Prandelli already told him that either he is a regular starter or he can forget the Azzurri jersey.”
“In his shoes, I already would’ve made my decision. I read some journalists close to the Rossoneri camp think Cassano is sixth in the pecking order of strikers, even behind http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alberto-Paloschi-c4338. Is that acceptable? No, it isn’t.” added the former Torino boss
The 72-year-old added that Massimiliano Allegri has some world class forwards at his disposal and it will be very difficult for Cassano to get the nod ahead of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alberto-Gilardino-c4324, with whom he has played so effectively in the past.
Gilardino and Cassano played together in the Italian Under-21 side and the duo formed one of the most devastating strike forces. He added that Fiorentina is a big club and Italian national team manager, Cesare Prandelli, prefers to pick players from top teams.
Cassano has 23 national team appearances under his belt so far and he has scored 6 goals for his country.
