Eugenio Fascetti urges http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Cassano-c6302 to reconsider his retirement plans: Serie A news
Former Bari manager, Eugenio Fascetti, has urged Antonio Cassano, to think hard before announcing retirement from football.
Cassano revealed in a recent interview that he will retire from international football in three years time. The A.C Milan striker scored a brace in Italy’s 3-0 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Northern-Ireland-c2972 in the last group stage game of the Euro
2012 qualifiers on Tuesday, October 11th, 2011.
Cassano’s mentor from his boyhood days, Fascetti is upset with the striker’s revelations and has urged him to re-think about his plans. The 72-year-old added that post retirement life is not so enjoyable and the former Sampdoria
star should make full use of his playing days.
While talking to the reporters, Fascetti said, “I love him and that’s why I urge him to think long and hard before leaving football so soon. Life outside of the game is so different. Football is enjoyment; problems arrive when
you stop playing.”
Fascetti also blasted the media for over exaggerating his comments in the past and added that he cannot believe the reports until he speaks to the player himself. However, if it comes out to be true, he is not sure whether Cassano
will take his advice or not.
“I think he’s just tired of all the commotion after one of his reactions. Everything that he does is amplified 100 times. People exaggerate when evaluating him. I don’t know if he’ll reconsider his plans, but I hope he does.”
The former Real Madrid star’s career has been surrounded with a lot of controversies and he missed many years of his international career through disciplinary problems. He joined Milan in the January transfer window of 2011 and
the move has done wonders for him. The 29-year-old managed to reclaim his spot in the international team and also played a huge role in helping the Rossoneri to win the league title last season.
The Italian international has scored 9 goals in 28 appearances for Gli Azzurri thus far and is currently the first-choice striker in Cesare Prandelli’s team.
