Euro 2012 News: Hungary versus San Marino 6-0 Full time Analysis (Part 2)
Contd.....
The match started with the whistle of Hannes Kaasik and ironically, it was San Marino that made the first attack as Manuel Marani came up with a brilliant corner that was headed by Fabio Bollini but the attempt was impressively saved by Gabor Kiraly.
It certainly seemed from the beginning that San Marino might finally break their curse but 5 minutes later, the story was totally different.
In the 3rd minute, Maicol Berretti commited a foul on Vilmos Vanczak which was penalized with a free kick for Hungary. The pressure now seemed to be building on San Marino as only two minutes later; Berretti was the person who again fouled, this
time on Gergely Rudolf.
Rudolf then took the free kick for Hungary but it resulted in an open play. Eventually, Aldo Simoncini took a long goal kick with Balazs Dzsudzsak taking control of the ball on the left wing. Balazs fired in an out-swinging cross that Roland Juhasz did well
to head but the ball was still far from the San Marino posts.
In the 8th minute, Fabio Bollini handed the ball and Balazs took the free kick in his punishment which resulted in an open play. In the 9th minute, the Hungarian captain, Zoltan Gera took a throw in that ultimately got assisted by Balazs
and headed by Rudolf to the lower left corner, drawing first blood for the Hungarians. The shot was taken from the right with a distance of about 6 yards that made the score 1-0.
The ball possession continued with the Hungarians as their midfielders showed some stunning expertise in handling it. The attacking style play of both teams did not hinder for a moment as Simoncini, Krisztian Verme and Damiano Vannucci continued their assaults
on the goal.
In the 16th minute, Alessandro Della Valle challenged Zoltan somewhat unfairly and therefore, a free kick was awarded to Hungary. Zsolt Laczko took it but he got nowhere. After that, Balazs kicked in an in-swinging corner as Adam Szalai made a brilliant
effort and succeeded in scoring a goal. The 18th minute double was placed into the right corner of the penalty area, giving the shot stopper no time to place a hand on the ball.
If all this fiery performance had not stirred up rest of the Hungarian players on the field, now they certainly were, as the whole team launched in wave after wave of attacks. The Hungarian skipper also joined the party and struck some firm balls towards
the goal posts but Simoncini was quick enough to react and make good saves.
In the 24th minute, Damiano Vannucci committed a foul on Vladimir Koman and San Marino were penalized with a free kick. Balazs came up to take it and struck the ball with his left into the right; however, he was off-target and missed the chance
completely.
During the 26th minute, Koman came up with a moment of brilliance as he passed the ball to Rudolf, who powered in a 12 yard strike into the right side of the penalty area making the score 3-0.
