EA Sports confirms that there will be an expansion pack for their best-selling football simulation game but will be available as a digital download only.
Football fans will be eagerly anticipating the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament, which will be hosted by Ukraine and Poland this summer. The tournament will begin on the 8th of June and last until the 1st of July when the final takes place.
England has already secured its place among Europe’s elite footballing nations and will be looking to shun their choke artist label this time around and many fans will also be rooting for their respective teams as well.
Yet, where there is a huge event there is always room for merchandising and opportunities for business. EA Sports has been a studio that is known for responding to consumer need and as such has announced the Euro 2012 expansion pack for FIFA 12.
The expansion will set gamers back 15.99 GBP on the PlayStation Store, 2500 FIFA Points on PCs and 1800 MS Points on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. It will also be a digital download only and gamers will not find it available on discs at any retailer in North
America or Europe.
EA pitched their latest expansion and outlined “the all-new Expedition Mode designed exclusively for UEFA Euro 2012” which “enables fans to build, manage and compete with a customized team against other European nations, crafting the perfect strategy for
European domination.”
It continued, “Fans will choose their favourite European player or FIFA 12 Virtual Pro o captain their customized team, win matches and earn better players from defeated nations, and then defeat the best nations to earn the best players in a campaign quest
to defeat all 53 countries and complete the journey to conquer Europe.”
The concept sounds interesting and is sure to add a bit of life to the expansion, which in days gone by usually tend to become rather monotonous very quickly.
The game will feature all eight stadiums where the tournament matches will be held and the fact that it runs on the same engine as the tried and tested FIFA 12 one means that there should be little to no hesitation when it comes to downloading a copy of
the game for oneself.
