Euro 2012 qualifiers preview: Spain vs. Lithuania – Part 2
David Villa is definitely a player who can be a threat to any team at anytime of the day. His recent form has been devastating along with Barcelona as he has adapted well with the “tiki taka” style of play that Barcelona and the
Spanish team both play. With David Villa featuring on the left flank, David Silva can feature as a right winger. It is true that the Spaniard has lost the touch that he had during his time in Valencia, but he is still a great option as Pedro Rodriguez is out
for three weeks due to an injury he suffered during the match against Mallorca.
The Spanish side’s opponents tonight, Lithuania are off to a pretty good start in the Euro 2012 qualifiers. They have managed to bag themselves 4 points in two games as this is going to be their third match. They managed to win
the first and drew the second against Scotland as the match ended in a goalless draw. On the other hand, the Spaniards totally destroyed Liechtenstein 0-4 as the World Champions totally dominated the game and won their three points. The Spaniards also won
the match against Czech Republic as Darvydas Sernas’ header helped them win the three points and the World Champions emerged victorious again.
Despite such a good form, when the Spaniards faced a refined South American team, Argentina, they were simply destroyed. With the help of Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez, Gonzalo Higuain and Kun Aguero, the Argentineans managed to win
the game 4-1 as they totally crushed the World Champions and won the game. However, the Spaniards did not feature a full team and did not have Xavi Hernandez and a lot of other players in the starting lineup.
Even though the Spaniards did not perform well in their last game, they are still the World Champions and they are the best side in not only Europe but also the whole world. The Spaniards are definitely going to take this match
seriously, despite the crisis that they are facing because of the injured players in the squad. Despite so many injuries, they have suitable replacements for everyone and even though Cesc Fabregas is not available to replace the mastermind Xavi, Anrdres Iniesta
is going to be there to help his nation win another game, just like the final match of the FIFA World Cup 2010.
Gerard Pique might not feature in the game because he has been “out of touch” for now but if he does, the Spaniards are only going to be stronger. Sergio Ramos can easily play as a centre back but playing Pique would be a wise
option in terms of experience. However, in terms of injuries, Pique is not going to be a good option as the Barcelona centre back definitely needs some rest after the harsh routine that he has been experiencing with the Spanish club.
Can the World Champions emerge victorious again? The chances are that they will, but football is definitely a sport that cannot be fully predicted. We can only wait for the match to finish seeing whether the Spaniards can win themselves
another 3 points even without a few players that matter a lot to them.
