Euro League?

Ive heard Brandon Jennings is off to play in Italy.

I think he is going to have a HUGE future.

I was just wondering.. Are Italy and Spain the two big leagues in Europe just like it is with Soccer ?

With the NBA being the biggest and strongest league in the world, i get the impression that it is Italy & Spain are the two leagues behind the NBA along with Russia.

  1. Italian League is not strong as it was in the past. Bologna teams struggle financial problems and haven't good rosters anymore. Spanish League ACB is the best league in Europe. Greek, Russian, Italian and Turkish leagues follow ACB.

But more than local leagues, Euroleague has a huger importance for big European teams. And Lottomatica Roma will be in the top level of European competition, in Euroleague. They had a good roster with new Raptor Roko Ukic, ex-NBA player Allan Ray and good European players. Maybe they have lost these players, but in Europe that's normal. Every new season is a new beginning for European clubs. They usually change their American players and hopes for a good combination of newly signed guys. They signed 7-year NBA player Primoz Brezec too. I know he sucked, in a big part of that NBA career but he's still a big man who can dominate some games in Euroleague.

  2. Yes, basketball leagues in Italy and Spain are prominent, and Brandon Jennings is playing with one of the stronger clubs in Virtus Roma. Indeed, standard in Italy and Spain are high and most of time there are 5-6 teams capable to challenge the league champ as well as in Euro League, the elite competition for all league winners in Europe - and these teams are capable to beat the bottom half of NBA teams.

Russian league is less powerful than those in Italy and Spain, but very close to Greek, but several Russian clubs are well-known big spenders, especially CSKA Moscow, a perennial powerhouse which has a mini-NBA roster from time to time.

    Anyway, good luck to Jennings.
