Euro Qualifiers 2012: England vs Switzerland – Goal Summary
England played host to Switzerland at Wembley, in a Euro 2012 qualifier. The game was a must win for the English, in order for them to ensure their progress from Group G as group leaders.
The first goal of the game came in just the 32nd minute of the game. However, to everyone’s surprise, it was Switzerland who took the lead.
Barnetta, went on to float a free-kick into the area and with everyone, including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Hart-c18699 anticipating someone to get a head onto the ball, no one expected the ball to float into the back of the net. However, as was the case, the free kick did end up swerving
just inside the post and due to Hart, not being prepared for that, he let the ball slide in as he looked rather stumped.
Three minutes later and in the 35th minute, Switzerland went two up as Barnetta scored a second goal, from yet another free kick. Barnetta placed his shot perfectly; as his well judged and guided effort, went on to sneak in just beyond the collapsing
England wall, as it flew into the back of the net.
In the 37th minute, just before the end of the first half, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097 managed to get a goal back for the English. The midfielder took a pop at goal from some twelve years out and his shot managed to sneak in just under the Swiss keeper.
In the 51st minute, England went on to level the playing field as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leighton-Baines-c21987 then went on to cushion the ball for Ashley Young. The forward then
went on to roll the ball into the far corner and as a result, the score card now read 2-2.
There were no more goals scored in the game, as both sides managed to cancel each other out for the remainder of the second half.
Following the conclusion of the game, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Switzerland-c3016 were sitting in the 3rd spot with a mere 5 points to their name.
