Euroears and Plum Pretty turned in five furlongs each for their respective Breeders’ Cup races
Bound for the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint, 7-year-old Bob Baffert trained Euroears turned in five furlongs in 57.80 seconds. The Grade 1 Sprint will be held at Churchill Downs on 5 November, 2011.
The Kentucky bred son of Langfuhr, out of Unky and Ally by Heff, Euroears worked under jockey Martin Garcia and Baffert made his experienced gelding work alone. Bob Baffert was the one timed his runners run.
Euroears started off well by covering three furlongs in 34.80 seconds and for five furlongs he was timed 58.20 seconds, while Euroears was timed 1 minute and 10.20 seconds for galloping out six furlongs.
12 participants have entered the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, and with one glance at name sheet, one can determine that it is going to be one heavily contested race.
With the likes of Caleb’s Posse, Jackson Ben and the 2010 winner of the Sprit, Big Drama in the lineup, Bob Baffert’s Euroears would have to bring something special on the day to beat the start studded caste of the Breeders’ Cup Sprint.
Bob Baffert has also entered The Factor to double his chances in the sprint, the 3-year-old colt has recently won the Grade 1 Pat O’Brien Handicap, over at seven furlongs on the synthetic surface of Del Mar on 28 August, 2011, with the winning time of 1
minute and 21.56 seconds.
He is coming off a fourth place finish in the Grade 1 Ancient Title Stakes at Santa Anita Park over at six furlongs on 8 October, 2011, while Amazmobie claimed the title on dirt with the winning time of 1 minute and 8.24 seconds. Irrefutable and Mensa Heat
finished second and third, respectively.
Another Bob Baffert trainer Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic hopeful, 3-year-old filly Plum Pretty worked alone as well. She turned in five furlongs in 59.40 seconds, as she galloped out the rest.
The daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, out of Liszy by A.P. Indy, Plum Pretty is coming off a win in the Grade 2 Fitz Dixon Cotillion at Parx Racing over at 1 1/16 miles on 1 October, 2011, as she covered the distance in 1 minute and 41.19 seconds and according
to Baffert she is so ready for the Classic.
