Europa League FT Report: Young Boys vs. Stuttgart – Young Boys school Stuttgart for letting guard down
Emmaniel Mayuka was the man who managed to score two brilliantly timed goals in the last twelve minute of the game, to help secure a very crucial four goals to two win for the Young Boys over their Group H rivals from Germany, Stuttgart.
The match was played amidst a snow infested pitch, but David Degan managed to keep his feet on the ground as he helped give the hope side the lead in the thirty fifth minute. However right after the restart, Pavel Pogrebnyak managed to equalize in a goal
during the forty eighth minute to level the scores.
However twenty minutes later Sven Schipplock managed to stun the home fans by scoring a goal that gave the visitors the unexpected lead in the night.
Nonetheless the Young Boys did not lose hope and Scott Sutter managed to draw the scores level once again at the seventy eighth minute. It was then the Mayuka show as the Zambia international managed to strike two goals in two minutes to give the Swiss based
team the unexpected win on the night.
However as the points stand in Group H, both Stuttgart and Young Boys have managed to guarantee a spot for themselves in the next stage of the competition.
Apart from that, there was another notable event that took place on the night. David Degan who was playing for the Young Boys and Philipp Degan who happens to be a player for Stuttgart, went down in the history books to be the first ever twins to go head
to head in any UEFA Competition.
Apart from that, the match was nearly delayed to heavy snow prior to the game. However after a thirty minute wait the snow finally decided to calm down and the game proceeded as expected.
David Degan managed to score the opening goal on the night by looping the ball over the Stuttgart keeper on the thirty fifth minute mark.
However Stuttgart managed to level three minutes after the restart thanks to some confusion in the home side's defence. With the keeper and the defenders seemingly lost in the box, Pogrebnyak pounced on the loose ball to draw the scores level.
On the sixty eighth minute Camoranesi sent a ball over the top into the Youn Boys box and Schiplock managed to slot home the ball with a first time shot and as a result Stuttgart took the lead.
With twelve minutes left Sutter blasted a ball that took a wicked deflection before resting in the back of the net and as a result the scores were level once again.
However Mayuka came into his own in the last ten minutes as he score two goals on the eighty first and eighty second minute. The first goal came after the player chased a long throw and then went on to slot the ball into the far post. The second goal was
much easier as the Zambian had the simplest task to tapping in a ball that the Stuttgart keeper knocked into his path.
