Europa League Full Time Report: Paris Saint-Germain vs. Sevilla - PSG secure spot in last 32 after beating Sevilla
French side, PSG managed to secure a spot for themselves in the knock out stages of the Europa League after going ahead and beating Sevilla by a score line of four goals to two.
PSG went on to take an early two-goal lead, thanks to Mathieu Bodmer and Guillaume Hoarau; however, Sevilla went on to prod two goals back thanks to a quick and well timed brace via Frederic Kanoute.
However, PSG managed to restore their lead in the dying stages of the first half thanks to a striker by Nene and in the forty-seventh minute Hoarau struck for the home side to secure all three points for PSG.
As a result of tonight’s victory PSG have moved two points ahead of Sevilla on top of Group J and are almost certainly guaranteed to end the round as group winners. On the other hand, a defeat for Sevilla means that they will now
have to play a must win game against Borussia Dortmund if they want to make it through to the next stage.
The match was well fought out in the first half, while the second was not quite able to live up to the hype that the first forty-five minutes created.
In the opening forty-five, PSG managed to break the dead lock first and then scored another in the span of just three minutes. Both the goals were also identical, as Nene was the provider for both the goals down on the wing. However,
the first goal was thumped in by Bodmer and the next was turned in via Hoarau's head.
Sevilla then went on to put up a fight via Kanoute, who showed his class and managed to score two goals for the home side thanks to his superior technique and skill.
However, on the thirty-ninth minute PSG once again took the lead. This time around, Nene went from being provider to goal scorer. The winger managed to pounce on a rebound and then went on to curl the ball into the far post.
The match however was eventually decided by a Hoarau striker just two minutes into the second half. The goal was a little too much for Sevilla to come back from and despite all their efforts, the team really could not do anything
to prevent themselves from losing by a score line of four goals to two.
