None the less, one City player who took into the second half to prove a point to the manager was Johnson. Johnson came into his own in the second half. The player was back to being his tricky self and was beating Salzburg players left and right.
He even went on to create a brilliant chance for Jo on the fifty ninth minute. Johnson tricked past a number of Salzburg players before setting up Jo. However, the Brazilian was in no mood to be paying any attention and as a result, the pass missed him due
to his slow reaction.
Jo, who having a rather poor night in front of goal was resorting to just try and win countless penalties in the game. The player had another shot go to waste on his third attempt. The attacker got down the flank and whipped the ball into the area, however
the ball managed to hit someone on the arm, but it didn’t seem to interest the referee or his linesman.
On the other hand, Balotelli who was there to prove a point as well, was having a rather good game. The player went on to complete his double on the sixty fourth minute. Johnson managed to play in Vieira with another brilliant pass and the midfielder let
fly. However the French man’s shot was miscued but Balotelli was the quickest to react and he went on to tap the ball into the back of the net, while everyone else was wondering what was going on.
However, there was a rather smug celebration from the striker as he almost completely refused to celebrate and it appeared that his arrogance had a huge part to play in that act.
After the second goal, City started to take the foot of the pedal and as a result, Salzburg managed to create their first opportunity on the night. Hierlander, the Austrian teenager managed to create space outside the area and then went on to unleash a shot
that was destined for the top corner of the far post. However Given who proved that he still had it went on to make a brilliant diving save to maintain his clean sheet.
With just twelve minutes left in the game, Johnson went on a rampage in order to get his name on the score sheet. The player then managed to score one of the best goals of the Europa League this season. Johnson got the ball on the left touchline and then
went on to stride past three players thanks to his pace and skills. He then went on to unleash a brilliant shot that flew into the far post. As a result of that goal, City were now three goals up and there was no hope for Salzburg any more.
