Paris St Germain and Sevilla will be fighting for a place in the last 32 of the Europa League tonight. The Group J clash takes place in the French capital and a victory tonight will confirm the winners place in the next round of the European competition.
However, a draw would send both through, provided third place Borussia Dortmund are held by Karpaty Lviv in their respective match.
Sevilla are currently leading the group by nine points, having won all three games since their loss to Paris St Germain on match day one. The French side on the other hand, is just a point adrift Sevilla, with Dortmund at third place, three points behind
Paris St Germain. A draw would favour both sides, but it is guaranteed that both teams will give it their all and will aim for a win.
Sevilla goal keeper Andres Palop was confident about his side’s chance, he said,
“With a lot of hard work we will get back to our best. This is what we need to be focused on, not on issues that help little. We have the obligation to recover the joy that always characterizes this club. We are going through a bad patch and we will get
through it, I'm sure.”
Despite Sevilla performing poorly in the domestic league, two home defeats in the La Liga to Getafe and Real Mallorca, the captain remained confident. He was a major factor in the club winning back to back UEFA Cups in 2006 and 2007 and felt that they could
win it again. He was certain they could bounce back from the poor domestic results and prove themselves in Europe.
While looking ahead to the trip to Paris, to face a side much stronger than them, the Sevilla skipper said,
"We are going to face a hostile atmosphere, we all know that and we are forewarned, but we are going there to try and win the game so as not to leave things on the line in the final round, which would be dramatic."
