Rapid started the game rather brightly and then even went on score the opening goal on the night. Christopher Trimmel was the man to put the hosts up and draw first blood for the home side. Drazan whipped in a beautiful ball from
the left side of the pitch and Trimmel managed to meet the flight of the ball and finish it low into the goal, giving the keeper almost no chance of stopping the shot.
Porto, however, managed to score an equalizing goal almost immediately after as Hedl curled in a free kick which Falcao managed to pounce onto to draw the scores level before heading into the half-time break.
In the second half of the match, the home side did their best to try and find the opening to try and go ahead. However, luck was just not on their side as chance after chance went begging for them.
With Rapid failing to capitalize on their countless chances, Porto managed to sneak in a surprise lead against the run of play.

The Colombian international then went on to finally complete his hat-trick after Hulk unleashed a twenty-yard pile driver; the keeper managed to palm the ball into the path of the onrushing Falcao and the Colombian international
didn't hesitate before prodding the ball into the back of the net for the third time on the night.
As a result of the victory, Porto managed to secure a spot for themselves in the next round of matches, while Rapid are now out of the competition with the last match being nothing more than a game for the team to prove their worth
