Europa League Special Part 2: Contenders for the trophy - Juventus (Part 1)
Juventus F.C.
Juventus FC is one of the most renowned football clubs in the World. Historically speaking, Juventus are the most successful club in Italian football with twenty nine league titles. Old Lady as the club is called by the supporters; Juventus is the most successful
club of the Italian football in the twentieth century as recognized by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics, an organization recognized by FIFA.  Bar their Relegation to the second tier of Italian Football, the Serie B, Juventus
played top flight football ever since the club was founded in 1887.
The club has a rich history in the European competitions winning Champions league on two occasions. Even after their poor campaigns after the 2006 Calciopoli scandal, the club remains the most supported club in Italy and one of the most renowned global football
brands.
Due to their poor campaign last year, the club failed to achieve a Champions League spot. The club hierarchy took drastic measures this season, bringing a whole lot of changes in both management and squad levels. Giuseppe Marrota was brought in as the director
of football from U.C. Sampdoria while in excess of 70 million Euros were spent on transfers.
The Juventus squad is brimming with talent, certainly good enough for the glamour of champions league. The squad has an average age of 28.22. At this age, players are thought to be on peak of their careers and expectation will be high going in to the competition.
Preferred Formation: 4-4-2
Defence
Juventus has a World class defence. They have one of the best Goalkeepers in the history of the game in Gianluigi Buffon.  Some even call him the best in the history, ahead of legendary USSR goalkeeper Lev Yashin. His recurring back problems are a concern.
Juventus signed Marco Storari from AC Milan to add cover to the goalkeeping department. They already have Alexander Manninger as the best second choice goalkeeper in the world. In Giorgio Chiellini they have one of the best defenders in the world. Leonardo
Bonucci is the future of the Azzurri defence and much is expected of the former Bari man. Marco Motta is a tremendous prospect going forward but his defending leaves a lot to be desired. Paolo De Caglie on the left has been steady but has failed to live up
to his wunderkind status. Overall, the team has one of the best defences in UEFA Europa league this term
to be continued....
