Europa League match preview: Borussia Dortmund versus Paris Saint-Germain
Roman Weidenfeller, the no.1 shot stopper of Borussia Dortmund has stated that he is not disturbed by the ‘mind games’ their opponents are playing as they near the Europa League clash.
The goalkeeper has expressed that he is concentrating much more on the match against Paris Saint-Germain and he will reply to all antics on field.
There are rumours circulating in France that PSG have taken the first step to sign in Weidenfeller by establishing communication with his agent. It is speculated that the player will be signed before the start of next season, but
the glove man has described this as nothing more than an act to distract him and catch him off guard in the match.
While talking to media he informed, “It happens often that, just before an important game, there are some mind games. But I am only concentrating on the game and nothing else.”
It seems that Weidenfeller has indeed got calm nerves, unfortunately that can’t be said about his team mate Dede. Dede has commented that he is nervous and wants to give the best he can. He mentioned that he is anxious if he will
be able to bring on his A game to the field at Westfalenstadion.
The Brazilian defender has not been able to feature in a game for about six months because of an injury. The full back admitted that this was a big moment for him and he hoped he was up to the task.
In press release on his inclusion to the team he comprehended, “Of course I am going to be nervous. When you have not played for five months, I think it is only normal.”
He added, “I will give it my best. The team is healthy and they will help me, and I hope that the fans in the stadium will help me too.”
The position of Marcel Schmelzer will be replaced by Dede because he had earlier been suspended. This will be Dede’s first cap since 8th of May this season.
With the suspension there is more bad news for the match. It seems that Sebastian Kehl will also not be able to participate in the match after the player received a hip injury.
He has picked up the injury just before Dortmund went for their first Europa League Group match. The match was against Karpaty Lviv and since then medical reports have determined that the star will be out for 3 months, therefore
till now he has been unable to reach full recovery.
The 2-0 victory for PSG at Toulouse last Saturday has initiated a game frenzy for them. In just a span of 21 days they will be playing 7 games, therefore they will have to use their players very wisely so as to avoid injuries and
prevent their players from getting exhausted.
They have already won their first 2 Group matches in the batch of J. This will certainly make their coach Paul Le Guen to rest some of his pivotal players in this match.
He will certainly be ranking and prioritizing the matches ahead and will eventually will come to the conclusion that the most important match is against Auxerre this Sunday in the French domestic League, Ligue 1.
Therefore with a reckoning like that it is expected that a couple of new faces will be observed. The team has indeed some new talent that has to prove its way hence this will be an excellent opportunity for them.
Another disappointment of the match would be Mateja Kezman who has been denied entry in the team from what it appears is because of his poor form. Also Claude Makelele, has been included in the squad of 19 for the weekend.
