Europe? Must sees and must do's? Any tips?

I am 18, going on 19 and have 2 years of university under my belt in Nursing/ Pre-med. I am taking some time off and going to Europe. My first stop is Stuttgart, Germany, where I will be an aupair for 12-24 months. During this time, but mostly afterwards, I plan on travelling, via hostels throughout Europe. Does anyone have any tips for me, or any must-sees and must-dos while I am over seas? Anything at all helps, as I am very open minded and super excited!!

The Holocaust Memorial in Germany is really moving, I suggest visiting that somewhere along your trip. Another good place is Amsterdam the entire place is like stepping back in time.
