My friend is trying to figure out her European roots. I've been asked to help.

100 years ago, what part of Europe did we see people who had squared jaws.

Thanks.

  1. ???

You're going about it the wrong way.

    There isn't a country that doesn't have square-jawed people.

  2. she's not going to be able to work out where her ancestors came from just from having a square jaw! Apart from having to decide what counted as a square jaw, no one nationality is defined by their chins!

She'll need to ask her oldest relatives where they remember their ancestors coming from.  100 years ago your great-grandparents were quite possibly alive. Keep hunting, libraries are a good place to start if her family doesn't know.

  3. Germany

  4. She might try to trace some ancestors back into Europe and see where they came from.

  5. I saw one  who came from Wolverhampton. that was fifty years ago. His name was Bill Broome and he was doing a lot of tattooing at the time we met in a certain part of Brum. I was one of eight. How are you Bill. Jock.

  6. mitochondrial DNA traces the maternal line, and Y Chromosome DNA traces the paternal line.

for more information look up Wikipedia. The 1st web address is a UK firm that does testing £150.00

    www.dna-bioscience.co.uk/service_mtdna... - 32k -www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/A70319... - 39k

type mitochondrial dna migration into search, chose images, and you will get a fair few maps.

I dont think you can trace ancestry though shape of jaw.
